These street taco wontons offer a delightful twist on traditional tacos by using wonton wrappers to encase savory beef and cheese. Perfect as a fun appetizer or a quick snack, these little parcels are quick and easy to prepare, offering a burst of flavor with each bite.

Ingredients:

🥩 2 cups leftover shredded beef (or any other beef steak)
🌿 1/2 cup cilantro (chopped)
🧅 1/2 cup onion (chopped)
🧀 1/2 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
🥟 Wonton wrappers
💧 Water for sealing

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Filling:
    • Start by chopping your leftover shredded beef or any cooked beef steak into smaller pieces.
    • In a mixing bowl, combine the chopped beef, cilantro, chopped onion, and shredded Monterey Jack cheese.
  2. Assemble the Wontons:
    • Take a wonton wrapper and place it on a clean surface.
    • Spoon about a tablespoon of the beef mixture into the center of the wrapper.
    • Dip your finger in water and moisten all edges of the wonton wrapper.
    • Fold the wrapper in half diagonally to form a triangle, pressing the edges together to seal. Ensure there are no air pockets.
    • Optionally, fold the two corners of the triangle towards the center to create a boat shape. Let the assembled wontons rest for at least five minutes to seal properly.
  3. Cook the Wontons:
    • Heat a bit of oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
    • Once the oil is hot, add the wontons and fry them until they turn golden brown, approximately 2-3 minutes per side.
    • Remove them from the pan and place them on a paper towel to drain excess oil.
  4. Serve:
    • Serve the wontons warm with your choice of salsa and some guacamole on the side.
