Croissant Rosca de Reyes
Rosca de Reyes! It's a modern twist on the traditional Spanish Three Kings Cake. Using croissant dough sheets, this recipe is simple yet delicious, perfect for celebrating special occasions or enjoying a sweet treat anytime.
Ingredients
🥐 2 tubes of croissant dough sheet
🍬 1 cup of powdered sugar
💧 2-3 tablespoons water
🍒 Candied fruit (maraschino cherries or fruit from a can work well)
🧴 Cooking spray
Instructions
1- Preheat & Prepare:
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Lightly spray an 8 or 10-inch baking pan with cooking spray. If you prefer, you can use a sheet pan along with a smaller round dish for shaping.
2- Shape the Dough:
- Prepare the dough sheets by cutting each into four long strips.
- Take the smaller round dish or plate and wrap the croissant dough strips around it. This helps form the circular shape of the Rosca.
- Carefully flip the circular dough onto the pre-sprayed larger baking pan. Remove the smaller dish or plate.
3- Decorate & Bake:
- Arrange the candied fruit on top of the dough, pressing lightly to stick.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20 to 24 minutes. Keep a close eye on the bottom to avoid burning.
4- Prepare the Glaze:
- While the Rosca is baking, prepare the glaze. Mix the powdered sugar with 2-3 tablespoons of water until smooth.
5- Finish & Serve:
- Once the Rosca is done and still warm, drizzle the glaze generously over the top.
- Allow it to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy your delicious Croissant Rosca de Reyes!
