Instructions
1. Preheat the Oven
o Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
2. Prepare the Honey Habanero Glaze
o In a small saucepan over low heat, combine the honey and finely chopped habanero pepper.
o Heat gently, stirring occasionally, for about 5 minutes to infuse the honey with the habanero flavor.
o Remove from heat and stir in the fresh thyme leaves.
3. Assemble the Brie en Croûte
o On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry to ensure it's large enough to fully enclose the brie.
o Place the brie wheel in the center of the puff pastry.
o Pour the honey habanero mixture over the top of the brie.
o Fold the edges of the puff pastry over the brie, sealing it completely. Trim any excess pastry if necessary.
4. Apply Egg Wash
o Place the wrapped brie seam-side down on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
o Brush the top and sides with the beaten egg to ensure a golden, glossy finish.
5. Bake
o Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown.
6. Serve
o Remove from the oven and let it rest for about 10 minutes before serving.
o Transfer to a serving platter and serve warm with baguette slices or crackers.
Cooking and Serving Tips
• Handling Habanero: Use gloves when handling habanero peppers to avoid skin irritation, and be cautious not to touch your face.
• Adjusting Heat: For a milder flavor, reduce the amount of habanero or substitute with a milder pepper.
• Serving Suggestion: Pair with a crisp white wine or a light beer to balance the heat and richness.
