Ingredients:
🌺 1 cup dried hibiscus flower
💧 6 cups of water
🍬 1/3 cup of sugar
🌶️ 1 jalapeño, sliced
🌿 10 leaves of mint, plus extra for garnish
🧊 Ice
🍹 Tequila
🍬 Extra sugar for coating glass rims
🌺 Extra boiled hibiscus flowers for garnish
🌶️ Additional jalapeño slices for garnish


Instructions

1- Prepare the Hibiscus Mixture:

  • In a large pot, combine the dried hibiscus flowers with 6 cups of water and 1/3 cup of sugar.
  • Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and let it simmer for about 5 minutes until the sugar is dissolved and the mixture is aromatic.
  • Remove the pot from the heat and let the hibiscus mixture cool to room temperature.

2- Infuse with Flavors:

  • Lightly smash the jalapeño slices and mint leaves with a mortar and pestle to release their flavors.
  • Add the jalapeño and mint to the cooled hibiscus mixture and let it sit for about 10 minutes.

3- Strain and Chill:

  • Use a strainer to separate the hibiscus-jalapeño-mint infusion from the solids.
  • Discard the solids or set aside some boiled hibiscus for garnish. Chill the infused liquid in the refrigerator.

4- Prepare the Margarita:

  • In a blender, combine the hibiscus infusion with a generous amount of ice.
  • Add tequila to taste and blend until smooth.

5- Serving:

  • Coat the rims of the serving glasses with sugar by dipping them into a shallow plate of sugar.
  • Pour the margarita mixture into the glasses.
  • Garnish with reserved boiled hibiscus flowers, fresh mint leaves, and jalapeño slices.

6- Enjoy:
