Ingredients
- 🌭 6 beer bratwurst
- 🫖 2 tbsp cooking oil
- 🧈 4 tbsp butter
- 🌶️ 1 Anaheim pepper, sliced thin
- 🥬 8 cups shredded cabbage
- 🧂 Black pepper and salt to taste
- 🌿 1 tsp dill weed
- 🍺 1 beer
Instructions
- Prepare the Brats: Begin by slicing your bratwurst into chunks. This will help them soak up more flavor during cooking.
- Heat the Pan: In a large pan, add 2 tablespoons of cooking oil over medium-high heat.
- Brown the Bratwurst: Add the bratwurst pieces to the pan and let them brown on all sides. This should take about 5 minutes. Remove the bratwurst and set aside.
- Melt the Butter: Using the same pan, melt 4 tablespoons of butter over medium heat.
- Cook the Anaheim Pepper: Add the sliced Anaheim pepper into the butter and sauté until soft, about 3 minutes.
- Add the Cabbage: Stir in the 8 cups of shredded cabbage. Season with a bit of black pepper and kosher salt. Allow it to cook down for about 5 minutes.
- Flavor with Dill and Beer: Sprinkle over 1 teaspoon of dill weed. Pour the beer into the pan. Stir well to combine all the flavors.
- Combine Bratwurst and Cook: Return the bratwurst to the pan, covering it with cabbage. Lower the heat and let it simmer. Cook until the cabbage is soft and has absorbed the beer flavor, approximately 20 minutes.
- Final Seasoning: Taste and adjust salt if necessary. If you prefer a bit more heat, add more black pepper as desired.
- Serve: Transfer the brats and cabbage to a serving platter. Enjoy warm!
