🫘 1 can refried beans
🥬 1 cup shredded cabbage
🥛 Mexican crema (as needed)
🌶️ Salsa Valentina (as needed)
🌶️ Green Habanero salsa (as needed)
🌊 Water (to dilute refried beans)
Instructions
1- Prepare the Chicharrones:
- Heat oil in a deep pan until very hot.
- Carefully lower one wheat flour chicharron at a time into the hot oil.
- Use two utensils to press the chicharron and keep it flat while it cooks, as it will puff up quickly.
- Cook until golden brown and crispy, then remove from oil and drain on paper towels.
2- Prepare the Refried Beans:
- Empty the can of refried beans into a microwave-safe bowl.
- Fill half of the can with water and add it to the beans to achieve a runnier consistency.
- Microwave on high for 2 minutes, stirring halfway through.
3- Assemble the Dish:
- Spread a generous layer of refried beans over each chicharron.
- Top with shredded cabbage and drizzle with Mexican crema.
- Add drizzles of Salsa Valentina and Green Habanero salsa to taste.
4- Serve:
- Serve immediately while the chicharrones are still crispy.
Cooking Tips:
- Ensure the oil is hot enough before adding chicharrones, or they may become greasy instead of crispy.
- Adjust the amount of water in beans based on your preferred consistency.
