Instructions
1. Prepare the Steak
o Remove the ribeye steak from the refrigerator and let it come to room temperature for about 30 minutes.
o Pat the steak dry with paper towels.
o Season both sides generously with salt and freshly ground black pepper.
2. Cook the Steak
o Heat the olive oil in a cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering.
o Add the steak to the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until it reaches your desired level of doneness.
o During the last minute of cooking, add 1 tablespoon of unsalted butter to the skillet and baste the steak by spooning the melted butter over it.
o Remove the steak from the skillet and let it rest on a plate covered with foil for 5 minutes.
3. Cook the Eggs
o In the same skillet, reduce the heat to medium and add the remaining 1 tablespoon of unsalted butter.
o Crack the eggs into the skillet and cook to your preference (sunny-side up, over-easy, or scrambled).
o Season the eggs with salt and freshly ground black pepper.
4. Serve
o Slice the rested steak against the grain.
o Plate the steak slices alongside the cooked eggs.
o Garnish with chopped fresh parsley.
o Serve with toasted bread on the side.
Cooking and Serving Tips
• Steak Doneness: Use a meat thermometer to ensure the steak reaches your preferred level of doneness (e.g., 130°F for medium-rare).
• Egg Variations: Customize the eggs to your liking, such as adding cheese or herbs.
• Serving Suggestions: Pair with sautéed mushrooms or a side salad for a more substantial meal.
Enjoy your classic Steak & Eggs breakfast!
