Ingredients
🥔 5 potatoes (peeled and cubed)
🧄 4 garlic cloves (charred)
🧈 4 tablespoons of butter
🧂 Salt to taste
🌶️ Black pepper to taste
Instructions
Prep the Potatoes:
Peel the potatoes and cut them into small cubes. This ensures they cook quickly and evenly.
Char the Garlic:
Take a metal skewer and skewer the garlic cloves.
Using an open flame (such as a gas stove), char the garlic until it's blackened on the outside. The inside should be softened and aromatic.
Cook the Potatoes:
In a large pot, add the cubed potatoes and cover them with water. Add a pinch of salt to the water.
Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer until the potatoes are tender, about 15–20 minutes.
Mash the Potatoes:
Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot.
Add the butter, salt, and black pepper to taste.
Using a fork or potato masher, mash the potatoes slightly to retain some chunks. This adds texture to the mash.
Incorporate the Charred Garlic:
Peel the charred skin off the garlic cloves and mash them into a paste.
Mix the charred garlic paste into the mashed potatoes until evenly distributed.
Serve:
Transfer the mashed potatoes to a serving dish. Enjoy them as a unique, smoky side dish to any main course.
