Ingredients
🌽 2 cups instant blue corn masa
🌽 3 cups instant corn masa
🧈 3/4 cup of lard
🧂 4 teaspoons of salt
🍗 1 cup shredded chicken with enchilada sauce
💧 Water (as needed)
Instructions
1- Prepare the Masa Dough:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the blue corn masa, instant corn masa, and salt.
- Add the lard into the mixture and use your hands to break it down until it resembles coarse sand.
- Gradually add water, mixing continuously, until the dough is smooth, slightly sticky, and has a play-doh-like consistency that doesn't stick to your fingers.
2- Molding the Alien Bodies:
- Print or draw an outline of an alien figure on parchment paper to use as a template.
- Place the parchment on a baking sheet and mold the masa dough over the outline to form the shape of the alien body.
- Use water to wet your fingers, helping to fix any cracks or smooth out surfaces, similar to working with clay.
3- Stuffing and Detailing:
- Fill the head of the alien body with the shredded chicken and enchilada sauce mixture.
- Use small tools like a spatula, knife, or toothpick to add details and features to your alien mummy.
- Dust the entire alien with some additional masa flour to give it a dusty, ancient appearance.
4- Baking:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Place the prepared alien bodies on a baking sheet and bake for about 30 minutes, or until they are crispy and golden. Note that the head may remain softer due to the filling.
5- Serving:
- Arrange your crispy alien mummies on a platter.
- Serve with runny refried beans, salsa verde, salsa roja, crema, or cheese sauce for dipping.
