Ingredients
🧀 1 (16oz) whole mozzarella cheese
🌶️ 4 cups Takis, already ground
🥚 3 eggs
🌾 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
🌶️ 2 teaspoons paprika
🌶️ 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
Instructions
1- Prepare the Cheese:
- Slice the mozzarella cheese into circles and then cut each circle into half-moon shapes.
- Place the cheese slices on a sheet pan, making sure they are not touching.
- Wrap the sheet pan in plastic wrap and freeze the cheese slices for at least 2 hours.
2- Prepare the Takis Coating:
- In a food processor, grind the Takis until they reach a fine crumb consistency. Set aside in a shallow dish.
3- Prepare the Breading Station:
- In one bowl, beat the eggs thoroughly.
- In a second bowl, mix the flour, paprika, and cayenne pepper.
4- Coat the Mozzarella Sticks:
- Begin by dredging a frozen cheese slice in the flour mixture, making sure to coat all sides thoroughly.
- Dip the floured cheese slice into the beaten eggs, ensuring an even coating.
- Roll the cheese slice in the ground Takis, pressing gently to make sure the crumbs adhere well.
- Repeat the process for all cheese slices.
5- Fry the Mozzarella Sticks:
- Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot over medium-high heat.
- Once the oil is hot, carefully add the breaded mozzarella sticks in batches.
- Fry until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per side.
- Remove the sticks using a slotted spoon and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
6- Serve:
- Enjoy these spicy mozzarella sticks hot, perhaps with a side of marinara sauce or your favorite dipping sauce.
